Closing My Eyes

Closing my eyes melts away the miles

I dance to your whispers and swirl to your smiles.

Closing my eyes takes me back to those times

When I’d stay awake till three and write you stupid rhymes.

Closing my eyes makes your absence less bitter

It makes me realize why I’m still stuck to you like glitter.

Closing my eyes makes me feel again the love which transgressed all seasons

And made me turn all your excuses into genuine reasons.

But then comes a point when I’m unable to ignore

The cacophony growing more and more

Of your screaming silence,

My voiceless cries.

And so, I get up

and

Open my eyes.

The visual rendition of this poem is exemplary. I like the way the lines narrow with sorrow.

Or is it an eye, represented visually? Opened the eye indeed..
