Rekindling

With all the restraint and turmoil

You swallowed even my instinct to recoil ;

My friend, sadness is the stellar ingredient
Of your happiness, which is no longer expedient
To fill my bones with star dust ;
For it’s the light within me that satiates your lust.

My flickering flame you always captured,
The ugly shadows on the wall had you enraptured.

Pathos, after all, was your foremost allegiance.
I realise- my release lies in disobedience.

Tired I am of your repeated forays,
Sit back, and now watch me ablaze
For as long as you can,
Before you are rendered blind
From my radiance which chafes
Your soul maligned.
